Bureau Head Message
Dear Community,
It is my distinct honor to address you as the head of the Regional Health Bureau. Our bureau is fully committed to improving the health and well-being of every individual in our region. As stewards of the public health system, we work tirelessly to ensure that every resident has access to quality healthcare services that are equitable, inclusive, and sustainable. We recognize the vital role that health plays in the development of individuals, families, and communities, and we are dedicated to making healthcare a priority at every level of our society.
Over the past few years, our region’s health system has seen significant progress. We have enhanced healthcare infrastructure, expanded human resource capacity, and strengthened service delivery to meet the ever-evolving health needs of our population. Read More A key aspect of our work involves improving primary healthcare services. We have made it our mission to ensure that every individual in the region, especially those in rural and underserved areas, has access to essential health services. We recognize the critical importance of strong primary healthcare systems in achieving better health outcomes, and we are continuously working to strengthen this foundation. By doing so, we aim to prevent illness, promote health, and deliver timely care at the point where it is needed most. The fight against communicable and non-communicable diseases remains one of our core priorities. We have intensified our efforts to reduce the burden of diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, while simultaneously addressing the rising incidence of non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. Our strategies are comprehensive, focusing on prevention, early diagnosis, and effective treatment. Through these efforts, we are working towards a healthier population that is better protected against both long-standing and emerging health threats. A cornerstone of our strategy has been the development of our health workforce. We believe that a strong, well-trained, and motivated health workforce is essential to delivering quality healthcare services. We continue to invest in capacity-building initiatives, training programs, and career development opportunities for our health professionals. Our goal is to ensure that every health worker has the skills, knowledge, and support they need to deliver the best possible care to our communities. Maternal and child health remains an area of particular focus for our bureau. We are determined to reduce maternal and child mortality by expanding access to skilled birth attendants, improving antenatal and postnatal care, and supporting family planning initiatives. We understand that the health of mothers and children is a key indicator of the overall health of our society, and we are committed to achieving better outcomes in this critical area. Through targeted interventions and community engagement, we are making progress towards ensuring that every mother and child receives the care they deserve. In addition, our region has prioritized emergency preparedness and response. With the increasing frequency of natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and other public health emergencies, it is crucial that we remain vigilant and ready to respond to crises as they arise. Our bureau has put in place robust systems to detect, prevent, and respond to emergencies, ensuring that we are able to protect the health of our citizens even in times of uncertainty. Our success in achieving these goals is largely due to the strong partnerships we have developed with various stakeholders. We work closely with governmental and non-governmental organizations, development partners, and the community to strengthen our health system. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach, and we recognize that the collective efforts of all our partners are essential to achieving our shared goal of better health for all. The Health Extension Program has brought about a transformative change in the health development efforts of our country. As this serves as a pathway toward achieving our health aspirations and fostering social prosperity, we are committed to advancing basic health services in a more effective and productive manner, in alignment with the newly revised roadmap. Furthermore, we will strengthen community-based health insurance initiatives to enhance the management of health institutions, ensure the provision of medical resources, and promote the use of health information systems and digital health technologies. We will also focus on reinforcing health regulatory systems and optimizing health financing within our capacity. Additionally, we will increase private sector engagement in health development by establishing efficient and collaborative working processes. Thank you for your continued support and collaboration. Sincerely, Mr. Samue Darge Head of Central Ethiopia Regional Health Bureau
